Subject: [Alexandria Radio Club Reflector] Battery Status & More Sizes
Here's the status after talking with Sam Tait last night (Sunday). He
will have only 3 100ah batteries and I requests for more than a
dozen. I can either tee some of you off by giving the big batteries
to your friends or I can tee you all off by downgrading everybody to
80ah batteries. I chose to get 80ah batteries for everybody. If you
really, REALLY, RRREEEAAALLLYY want a 100ah, I'll get one for the
first three requests. (I'm getting 5 80ah batteries for the
trailer.)All but one of the batteries are two years old. Sam has a
single, brand-new 80ah battery for $50. This one has some nicks in
the case, but it's never been used.Sam also 8 30ah batteries at $15
each and 20 5ah batteries at $4 each. If you want any of these
smaller batteries, please let me know by Wednesday (July 12) night. I
will send Sam a solid list of what we're buying on Thursday and he
will put W4HFH on all our batteries. That way, he won't sell the
same battery twice!Here's a link
http://www.lastnamesoftware.net/Battery_Purchase.htm that shows you
what I'm buying, who I'm buying it for, and how much money you owe
the Club. You can pay the club Treasury Friday night at the club
meeting. It's about 3 hours (one way) to the hamfest near Valley
Forge, PA, longer if we stop to eat. My plan is to leave Falls
Church very early and get to the hamfest about 8:30. Do our business
with Sam first then wander around the hamfest. I'm very flexible
about the timing of the return trip. I would like one volunteer to
keep me company - strong back required, strong mind optional. I will
have a small hand truck to help with the lugging. The best place to
distribute the batteries is at the Fire Training Center. Five
batteries go into the trailer and one (my loaner) comes out. If we
do it Sunday evening, it makes for a very long day. I prefer to do
distribute them Monday evening about 8:00 pm.That's about it. Remember,
if you want some smaller batteries, shoot me an e-mail
before Wednesday night.73 --Andy, WV8AA
