Hello from Chugiak! I haven't been on the air in a while so I figured I'd see if I could check in today. I strung some RG58 across the house to my office and listened on 144.2 USB for the net with a rooftop vertical antenna and my trusty FT-857D. Didn't hear anything until 9:47, when I heard a voice/voices in the noise, but totally unreadable. I didn't try calling because I wasn't receiving well enough to hear a gap in the rotation. I stopped hearing them about 9:57. I moved to 146.52 at 10:00 and called net control on FM a couple of times but heard nothing on that frequency.

I'll have to try my 4el 2m yagi next time, horizontal, and with better & shorter coax. The yagi is stored in the garage right now, but I might be able to put it on a pole and armstrong it for the net. Lots of trees and rocks between me and Anchorage/Kenai, but worth a shot.

73,
AL7U Andrew
