Well, the TE1450g Amp has served for a long time (originally spec at
160w and slugging along at 100-120w, lately).

I decided to purchase a 600w LDMOS amp for $99 from e-bay (without
transistors) and ordered the complimentary pair of MRF-300 from Digikey
for just over $100. 4x6 inch heat sink adds another $50.

Will need a 4-inch square fan.

I will add a Control Board ($85) and FET switch for B+ ($35) from W6PQL.
Control board monitors SWR and temperature to protect the amp
automatically.

This runs with 50vdc at 13A with 8w drive for 600w output.
I will run 5w drive for 500w. (already have Meanwell 48V/3000W switching
PS for my Kw amps)

10Log(500/120) = 6.2 dB (or one s-unit stronger signal).

But should make me easier to hear for the AK-VHF Net on Saturdays!

Probably two months until operational.
