Hello group,
I'm going to be out for a POTA activation this Saturday during the simplex net. The plan is to activate K-0149, Kenai National Wildlife Refuge. I'm going to be leaving Anchorage in the early AM and will try to be on VHF by 0930.
I expect to be operating from the roadside somewhere on the Sterling Highway. I've never found a really great location to work from, but have a few mediocre ones in mind.
Antennas-Bands:
2 M & 70 cm: collapsible yagi antenna
6 M: rotatable dipole
HF: Ground plane
I've worked well-equipped and hillside Anchorage stations from the Sterling highway before. Soldotna and Kenai stations are usually pretty easy. With the leaves off the trees and a little gain from the yagi I should be in good shape.
For POTA each combination of band and mode counts as a new contact, so anyone who wants to QSY around will be a big help for me. I'll have my IC-9700 with me, so everything from AM to DSTAR is good to go.
