This coming Saturday (June-10) the ARRL VHF Contest will be held
starting at 10:00 am AFDST (local time in AK) and runs until 7:00 pm on
Sunday (June-11).
All bands from 6m and higher are used, any mode including digital modes.
Purpose is to work a lot of stations (of course) but point multipliers
are given for working more grid squares (four digit like BP51 for most
of Anchorage and BP-40 for western Kenai Peninsula north of Clam Gulch.

It pretty easy to win an award in AK. There is an FM-ONLY Award.
June is often best contest for working 6m-DX (usually via sporadic-E but
some F-layer prop has been open in cycle-25 prop). 100w HF/6m radio and
a dipole often works (or try loading an HF antenna with a tuner).
50.125-USB, 50.313-FT8 or 52.525-FM (6m-DX has gone primarily digital)
144.200-USB and 146.52-FM will be most active
223.50-FM is popular
432-200-USB or 446.00-FM
927.50-FM
1296.100-USB or 1294.50-FM
these will be the active frequencies to try.
The ARRL VHF Contests are supported/promoted by the AK VHF-Up Group
which holds a weekly net on Saturdays starting at 9:30 am on 144.200-USB
