Good morning group,
Just a reminder that Winter Field Day is coming up the weekend after next. Although primarily an HF event, VHF and UHF are also part of the fun.

Of note is that this contest only allows modes which can send the full exchange. FT8 and FT4 don't have enough data payload, so you can expect to see a lot more voice, CW, and "classic" digital modes like PSK31 and RTTY over the weekend. (The good old days are back!) I'll be running PSK31 and RTTY, with SSB voice when band conditions pick up.
A lot of us just use the event as a good excuse to challenge ourselves and have fun in winter. I'm going to be at one of the Denali State Park dry cabins over the weekend doing a joint WFD-POTA operation, so if anyone wants to set up a contact schedule let me know. I will have antennas for all bands, and it would be great to pick up a few 40 M, 80 M, and mayne even 160 M local contacts. Currently very few Alaskan stations participate in the event.
