Thanks for the well-wishes.  Can't take phone calls as they don't work with my heating aids and my cell-phone/hearing aid Bluetooth not working,

I may ask my wife to buy a speaker phone to use at the hospital line OR buy new hearing aids with built-in blue tooth (maybe both?).

I got a bad infection in my left heel that rapidly infected the bone;  that usually results in removal of the infected area.  In my case amputation below the knee and foot.  Good new I have enough leg for a prothetic leg (and healing is going good).

It will take weeks of physical; therapy and more weeks of fitting of the leg plus learning to walk on it.

Today I heard I may be moving to Herritage Place (Soldotna) (soon).  Not sure4 when I will be home.

so write my wife for info:  Cole.janetm at gmail.com

I'm limited time in chair to use computer so may delay replies.

AK-VHF NET continues with KL7ZK acting NC  many thanks to Dave

I called the Kenai hospital and confirmed that Ed is there. He's having trouble pairing his hearing aids with his phone, so can't easily talk that way.

The message from Ed is that he is doing well but will likely be there for a while. He should be reachable by email though.

I just now opened the envelope and found a letter from Janet saying that Ed is in the hospital dealing with a serious leg infection. Part of his left leg has been removed below the knee and Ed eventually will need a prosthetic fitted. He has been in the hospital since Nov. 21.

They're talking about discharging him soon, but we don't know when "soon" is. Likely he will be transferred to Heritage Place for Short Term Rehab, which will allow him better access to physical therapy more often than he is getting at the hospital. There's a lot we are learniing as we go, but we're going to get there."
