Hi Ed,

I need to getback on the nets again. I did manage to get my 2-element 6 M antenna back up on the roof. Still planning to build a three- or four-element replacement, but been working on other projects.

Today I finally finished my new radio boxes. I made two, using 3U Gator cases. One holds the Icom 9700, and the other has the 7300.

Common to each box:
-Power pole input on the back
-4 connector power pole distribution inside
-Voltmeter
-USB A and C charging outlets
-LED light strip on a moveable arm

Right now the box for the 7300 has an autotuner and SWR meter installed. The box for the 9700 has space for whatever else I may want to add later - satellite preamps, etc.

I'm hoping that these will work better for roving and POTA. The problem was having to set up and tear down the station. With everything mounted in the boxes (except power) I won't have to bother with that. For roving it should also work well, since I can tie down the boxes and no longer have to worry about stuff sliding around on the road.

Testing notes and a webpage write up to follow.
