For those interested in trying ft8 on 6 meters during the VHF contest tomorrow, I will be operating the rover from several grids in and around Fairbanks, pointed south toward Anchorage. I willcall 1st, at 50.313, starting at 12:00 local, from Grid BP64. I'll be using a 3-el yagi and 200w. I've used this combination a number of times to work down into Southcentral and the Kenai Peninsula. I'll be using the NA VHF contest mode. If you don't want to use the contest mode, no problem, just make sure you transmit your grid in the sequence.
If I get a few contacts, I'll move over to BP54 and start calling at 14:00 local. Again, if that goes well, I will shoot up to BP65 and start calling at 16:00.
If I get set up before my scheduled start times, I'll be at 50.125 calling CQ on CW.
If you have at least a small yagi, 100w, and an unobstructed view north, lets give it a try. Let me know if you have any questions. Hope to see you on 6m tomorrow.
73,
Ken NL7B
