The net will begin at 9:30am on 144.200 USB. I will also
monitor 223.50FM and 50.125 USB.

Recent discussion has regarded running 6m FT8 during next
weekend's ARRL VHF Contest. This is encouraged as most
activity on 6m in the lower-48 has moved to FT8 from SSB
or CW.

FT8 definitely improves sensitivity at least by 10-dB over
SSB so one can make longer distance contacts and include
weaker stations who maybe run smaller antenna/power.

After the net tomorrow, a few of us will try making 6m FT8
contacts on 50.313 between Nikiski, Anchorage, and Fairbanks.
NL7B-BP64, KL7BSC-BP51, and myself KL7UW-BP40 will begin on
50.313. Nl7B will transmit 1st 30-second sequence and the
southern stations on the 2nd 30-second sequence. KL7BSC
and KL7UW can both transmit by operating on separate tone
frequencies and not interfere with each other. We plan to
start at 12:00 noon until 1:00pm.

We welcome other 6m stations to join in this test if you are
set up for FT8.

We may discuss what it takes to setup and operate during
the VHF-AK Net.

See you tomorrow.

73, Ed - KL7UW
