[AK-VHF] Carbon Composition Resistors

Hello group,

Has anyone on the list ever had issues with this style resistor? I have a few 50 ohm, 1/2 watt ones which are about eight years old. They were leftover from an earlier ham radio project, and I was going to use one in a new project, making a calibration load for a Nano VNA.

When I went to test the resistors I noticed a weird behavior on the multimeter: initial resistance was very high, but gradually dropped to near zero. I looked up this style of resistor and found that they are known for not being very stable. Could these resistors have gone bad?
