Labor day Weekend: Net will begin at 9:30am on 144.200 USB (130w into
17-foot vertical).
I also monitor:
223.50 FM (now with 150w into two 11-element yagis)
50.125 USB (70w into 7-element yagi)
Took my 7-element yagi off my ten-foot satellite tower (it lays over) to
use next weekend portable from Diamond Ridge (above Homer).
It occurred to me that the satellite tower would make a good mount for
the 2m vertical if I mounted a 20-foot mast on it. That would boost the
vertical to 30-foot vs current 14-foot mast (at other end of the
house). Tip of the vertical would be 47 foot above ground and maybe
work better into Anchorage. It could also proved support of one end of
my 80m dipole (center at 40-foot). Maybe get that up tomorrow afternoon
if I can find pulleys for the haul rope at our local hardware.
Next weekend (Sept.11 10am to Sept. 12 7pm) is the September ARRL VHF
Contest. Realizing that the MARA Hamfest is on Saturday, I suggest
focusing contest operation on Sunday. KL7BSC plans to operated portable
from Glenn Alps and I am going portable to Diamond Ridge with my IC9700
to run both FM &SSB on 144/432/1296. Diamond Ridge is just above Homer
and 1100 foot above sea level with a clear shot north (you can see the
Chugach Mountains above Anchorage). This is in grid square BO49.
I will not be attending the hamfest so will run the net 9:30-10:00 and
provide contacts in the contest for any that might be on Saturday. I
will install my IC9700 in my truck in the afternoon to be ready to drive
to Diamond Ridge Sunday (est. 11m set up to operate). Can operate
146.52/446.00 FM mobile on way down (approx 1-1/2 hour drive).
