I just wanted to alert club members that Paul Kiesel K7CW, the Awards Chairman and a Board Director for the AK VHF-Up Group, just qualified for one of the biggest awards in the world of weak-signal VHF. Paul just worked his last grid of the 488 needed for the Fred Fish Memorial Award (FFMA)-all worked on 6 meters! The Fred Fish Memorial Award was created in honor of Fred Fish, W5FF (SK), who is the first amateur to have worked and confirmed all 488 Maidenhead grid squares in the lower 48 states on 6 Meters. There have only been 12 other hams to complete the FFMA in the 13 years since this award was established. It’s a momentous accomplishment. Congratulations, Paul!
