Hello group,
This weekend is Winter Field Day: https://www.winterfieldday.com/
Just like with the ARRL field day, WFD is an event geared towards testing radio gear under emergency conditions. You don't have to be set up in the snow though; you can also operate as a home station and pick up contacts from everywhere. All HF and VHF/UHF bands are allowed, except the WARC bands.
Myself and a few other Mat-Su hams are going to be set up at Finger Lake State Recreation Area, so if you are driving around feel free to stop in. Just look for the antennas!
The rules do not allow use of spotting networks, or pre-arranging contacts. So we can't say in advance which frequencies we will be on, or when. But I think it is safe to say that I will be monitoring the most-used VHF simplex frequencies throughout the day. The contest starts at 1000 local, so I'll begin monitoring around that time.
Also be sure to listen for us on HF frequencies. Hope to hear everyone on air.
73,
Brandon
