Congrats, Brandon,
It was a good plan and glad you were able to find activity at each grid.
I did pretty good working four grids: BP51, BP50, BP40 and BO49
(anchor point). BP41 was too difficult using just the vertical.
Being limited to using my dual-band vertical on 2m and 70cm and not
having a 6m antenna that pointed toward Anchorage made things a bit
more difficult. Nice surprise that the 2m yagi array worked into
BP50 on Turnagain Arm, and mile-64 of Sterling Hwy (BP40).
My 6m 3-element yagi, which points SE, worked into Anchor Point
surprisingly well. Using the HF beam on 6m also worked, though not
as well (better than nothing). Made contacts on 50(2), 144(7),
222(2), and 432(2). About three times the last contest.
June VHF Contest often offers 6m sporatic-E openings into the
lower-48 which can really boost you score.
