The net will begin at 9:30 am on 144.200 USB.
I will be running my four 10-element yagi with my new amplifier.
It is rated for 1500w but I will run it at 600w on SSB.
Last week I ran with fans disabled which appeared to cause shutdown
of the amplifier.
Tested fine after the net so I conclude the overtemp protection
kicked in to shut down the B+ to the amp.
I will try running the amp at 600w on SSB this week but with fans
running* during Tx. The overtemp ckt will be active in case cooling
is inadequate (which I do not expect since I ran 1200w using JT65 on
eme a couple weeks ago; JT65 runs key-down for 55 seconds out of
every two minutes which is harder duty than SSB).
I have my FT-736R set up with the 150w amp into my vertical antenna
for quick backup if needed. No coax changeovers involved.
*Note: fan noise may be present in my mic which I hope will not be
objectionable.
Hope to see you on the net!
