Hello group,
I'm going to see if I can get into the net from the Turnagain Arm area.
There is a turnout on the Seward Highway just north of Indian which is
barely inside of BP50. That site would give me another grid in the VHF
contest, but I've never had a chance to try the location.
There are a lot of mountains between that spot and Anchorage, but I
might be able to hit south Anchorage or the Sand Lake area. If anyone is
going to be on-air from the RSOC keep an ear out for me. There is also a
fair chance I could make it into Nikiski if there is a beam pointed
towards me.
I'll try to get into the net at the start on 2 M. If I can't hear or be
heard then I'll switch to 6 M at 0930 and begin calling. I have more
power on 6 and that band tends to fill in behind hills better than 2 M
does. I will use 52.525 FM.
73,
Brandon
