[AK-VHF] So close, yet so far

Tom, Ed, and Chris,
I'm glad the topic of the 1.25 M band came up. I've been giving serious
thought to adding 1.25 M capability to my station. Anchorage ARES has
some assets on that band, so it would be nice to help build that out.
For contesting there is also the obvious advantage of being able to pick
up more multipliers.
And there's also the fact that antennas on that band seem to fall into a
"sweet spot" as far as the ratio of gain to physical size. They're
compact like antennas for the 70 cm band, but the signals get through
foliage a little better (from what I've heard).
I'll definitely be adding capability on that band, and it will almost
certainly be a transverter. I don't know if I'll have that capability by
the January contest, but definitely by June.
