[AK-VHF] Fw: CQ WW VHF Contest Announcement

Good morning,

Thanks again to everybody who went on air during the June VHF. Being a
Rover was great fun, and worked really well with all the people who came
out to participate!

For the CQ VHF contest I'll be hiking to the hills above Eagle River as a
hilltop portable station. Hilltoppers can only operate for a limited time,
so I'm planning to be on air from 1030 to1630, local time.

I hope to have a small beam for 2m, but it might be just a 5/8 omni. I will
be using an omni for 6 m (loaded vertical), and will have 5 w output for
both bands. Even with the low power though, my high location will allow me
to cover all of Anchorage and Mat-Su, based on previous testing. Should be
able to reach the upper kenai as well, if there is a beam on the other end
of the contact.

Inbetween VHF contest contacts I'm also hoping to do two summits on the air
activations with both HF and VHF. I'll be on the first summit by 1000 and
at the second summit later in the day. I can count the same contacts for
both as long as I do the exchange, so keep an ear open for some SOTA action
as well.

Frequencies and modes to follow . . . .
Brandon
