[AK-VHF] Contest Logs - deadline

Hi Ed,

The travel plan didn't work out as smoothly as I though. I bypassed grid
BP50 (Seward highway by Indian) because I was running behind and woul have
to set up yagis to even hope to reach anchorage. Also I made it to BP52
(outside Talkeetna) but couldn't raise anyone locally. Also, I couldn't
find an opening in the trees or a decent rise so that I could get the yagis
into action. Missed activating those two grids.

The best way to go rovering is always in a pair, or preferably in a pack.
I'm thinking about doing a shorter rove route in September to see if I can
encourage another Rover or two to join in.

Also, I noticed that from most sites simple whip antennas on 2 m and 70 cm
we're more than adequate to pick up contacts. I was able to copy you on 2 m
from the Mt Baldy trailhead with just the whip on my truck. Now that we
know a lot of gain isn't necessarily required to move through the main
grids maybe that will encourage additional stations too.
