We are in Whitehorse, tonight.  I tried running my  100w amp with the new ATU board and doesn't appear to turn on the PA, so I reconnected using simple Tx key line.  But KX3 Rx does not make much noise??  I ran the KX3 ATU and it matched the Larson 1/4 WL whip to 1:1.  The amp is buried under the  back seat under a full load of stuff for the new trailer which we will pick up on May24 in Fife.  So checking the amp is a big chore requiring unloading half the back seat (which is up to level of seat backs).  I will try to make a test before getting underway in the morning.  Heading to Watson Lake, YT by night.  I  will monitor 50.125 - hope for the best.

Hello All,

Stations in the "lower-48" have been experiencing bits of sporadic-E propagation since the first of May, but yesterday we observed the effects of geomagnetic storming as a result of increased solar wind streaming from a big coronal hole on the sun. Yesterday, we in the Pacific Northwest took advantage of widespread E openings across North America which included contacts with stations in the Caribbean and Alaska. I worked KL7NO, KL7KY and KL7HBK.

As I type this message, the band is opening again for us in the Seattle area. We are hoping to have such good conditions as we had yesterday as the geomagnetic storm continues. Maybe we'll hear some of you as the opening swings up to the northwest again this afternoon/evening.

PS, I hope you are all in the process of getting ready for the June contest!
