Thanks for putting the reminder for the contest.  We will be getting home the evening before.

The AK-VHF Up Net will meet on 144.200 at 9am followed by start of the contest at 10am (local time).  I will have to remove the KX3 and KXPA100 from the truck to reinstall in the home shack.  QRV 50-432 and maybe 927.50FM and 1296.100.

If 6m is open then Net will be QRT with all QSY to 6m (typ. 50.100-50.110 CW, 50.125+ SSB).

We are traveling thru Whitehorse later this am and staying at Haines Jct. tonight.  Watching wildfire burning near Tok, AK which we are staying June 6 (then down to Glennallen, AK, Palmer, AK and home).

I will monitor 50.125 on the road.

Hello Guys and Gals -

This is just a reminder that the June contest is upon us. Please set some time aside to operate and pass out some points to fellow participants and see if you can win a certificate. Don't forget to include the "CLUB: Alaska VHF-Up Group" line in your cabrillo file. Rules for the contest can be found on the Club's Contests page at

http://www.qsl.net/ak-vhf/Contests/ .

There you will also find the announcement for the CQ World Wide VHF Contest which occurs in July.

On a non-contest-related note, there was a strong sporadic-E opening yesterday morning early on 50 MHz between stations in Japan and Taiwan and stations in Alaska, British Columbia and Washington. Signals were very strong. For me the opening was from about 0630 UTC until about 0845 UTC. However, stations in Alaska were working stations in Japan earlier than that. The sporadic-E season is up and going. Time to watch for potential DX contacts on six meters.

73 for now,
Paul, K7CW
