And, just as a reminder to everyone equipped with gear that operates on 6m, remember that the sporadic-E season is already on. Be sure to aim south just in case there is an opening - and call CQ! We in Washington State have been expecting an opening to Alaska to happen at any time.
Good luck to all in the contest!

Alaska VHF-Up Group supports the ARRL
VHF Contest which will start at
10am on Saturday, June 11 - 7pm Sunday.
6m and up is used for the contest.
We suggest using 144.200 for USB and 146.58 for FM
simplex. 146.52
can be used to find stations to work but you should work the
contest
off 146.52 (using 146.58 makes it easier to find other
station in the contest).
On UHF 432.200 USB and 446.00 FM are suggested. Please
respect other
users on the UHF calling frequency.
The AK-VHF Net begins at 9am one hour before the contest and
will be
on 144.200 USB this Saturday.
I will have both 2m SSB and 2m FM in use with separate
radios and
antenna. I will also operate 50.125 USB with a
horizontal yagi and
80w and hope to have my 100w 223.50 FM system back in
working order
(uses two yagi).
We encourage VHF stations to participate. Using my 2m
four yagi eme
array with 150w I can work many stations in Anchorage
from my home
in Nikiski (12mi north of Kenai; SSW from Anchorage and S
from Big Lake).
I will make one more e-mail announcement on Friday with
status of my
station/bands.
