[AK-VHF] 927.5 & 1296.100 Status

After our club luncheon at China-Sea I did a little more work on the
900-MHz system. I increased drive to 6w to bring up PA output to
about 57w. Going thru two RG-8/x jumpers to match the TNC TR relay
and thru a N bulkhead barrel I get 50w to the antenna feedline (good enough).

But attaching the LMR-400UF jumper would not load properly (read dc
50-ohms with dummy at other end but at 927.5 it looks like a short or
so the PA says). So I found a run of LMR-400 that shows 50w at the
other end (no loss if you believe that). Its considerably shorter
which helps. Ran out of time but will test connected to 10-foot of
1/2-inch Heliax that connects to the loop-yagi tomorrow. Hope the
Heliax has survived.

If that tests good then the array will be raised for use on
Saturday's Net. That means I will have 50w on both 1296 and 927.5
with low noise preamps and high gain loop-yagis. Hoping this will
work stations in Anchorage (they will need yagis).

This weekend is the CQ VHF Contest which brings out a lot of 6m
operation in the lower-48 (so if 6m opens you will hear activity). I
plan to monitor 50.125 with 80w and 6-element yagi pointed to the
West Coast. Rules at:

Net begins on 144.200 USB at 9am.
