Paul,
Thanks for the reminder.
Sept. 12/13 Alaska Time: http://www.qsl.net/a/ak-vhf//Contests/
Though with near 80F wx and blue skies it seems
far away - fall will be here soon. Fireweed
blooms have topped out at our place signaling end
of summer (almost). But the nice wx is good to
get tan while getting those outside projects worked on.
I just pulled 160-foot of 1-5/8 inch Heliax to
replace my over 40-year old 1-5/8 line. Making
tests at 144 (0.98 dB), 927 (3-dB) and 1296
(11-dB) the loss for 120-foot run is no longer
good. New stuff should be 0.32, 0.95, and 1.13
dB respectively. I installed the connector on the house end tonight.
Not sure what we will see for 6m but will be
trying all bands up to 1296 next month! Got to
get the other end ready with connector before
this weekend for the 2m Dubus eme
contest. Should see about 100w more at the antenna on eme.
The net will resume at 9am Saturday on 144.200 USB!
