While it may be a "reach", sporadic-E contacts between Alaska and the lower "48" are not rare. In fact, they would be much more common if Alaskan stations did more to discover openings to other areas. Large antennas do help.
I, for one, will be watching for openings to Alaska during the contest, just as I have been doing outside contests. Good luck to you, too, Shannon.

Have fun roving with your FT-857. You should find many 6m and 2m
stations in that part of the country. Possibility of sporatic-E skip
to AK is a reach. It would be a kick to work you.
