Re: ARRL June VHF QSO Party
Eric (N6SPP), Tyler (Visiting Ham from Oklahoma State University
Amateur Radio Club), and myself (KL3JI) will be making an earnest
effort in this year's June VHF QSO Party this coming weekend, and we
ask your support in that endeavor. We will be operating an Unlimited
Rover Class operation on both days using the call sign KL3JI/R, and we
hope to activate five Maidenhead Grid Squares during the contest to
include BP51, BP41, BP42, and BP52 (in that order) on Saturday, and
BP50 on Sunday. We will be working 6 meters, 2 meters, 1.25 meters, and
70 cm, all modes. We will be utilizing the frequencies and antenna
polarizations set forth as "Suggested Operating Frequencies" on the
Alaska VHF-Up Group web page located at: http://www.qsl.net/ak-vhf/
(Scroll to the bottom of the webpage to view the table.) We will be
transmitting 50W on 6M, 20W on 2m and 70cm and 5W on 1.25M. We will be
attempting weak signal DX using USB and CW on 6M.
Those frequencies are:
50.125 USB 50.525 FM (This is different than the webpage)
144.20 USB 146.58 FM
223.5 FM
432.1 USB 446.0 FM
We will be operating both temporarily fixed and vehicle mobile through
the entire day. Our operating schedule follows:
Saturday:
10:00 am Local Begin Contest at Flat Top. Work from Flat Top (BP51)
until the action stops or about 2 hours.
12:00 pm Local Take about 30 minutes to relocate to Pt. Woronzof
(BP41) work there for 1 to 1-1/2 hours or until the action stops.
Not later than 2:00 pm relocate north toward Talkeetna/Trapper Creek
area (BP42)-about a 3 hour drive.
2:00 pm-5:00 pm Local Operate mobile driving north along the Parks
Highway through Wasilla, Houston, WIllow, Talkeetna.
5:00 pm Local Operate from either Trapper Creek or Talkeetna (BP42)
for 1 to 1-1/2 hours or until the action stops.
Not later than 6:30 pm relocate north 20-30 miles into BP52. Operate
there for about 1 hour or until the action stops.
About 7:30 pm Local Operate mobile driving south toward Anchorage.
Plan to be back in Anchorage about 11:00 pm.
Sunday
12:00pm Local Operate from Hope (BP50) for about 1-2 hours or until
the action stops.
2:00 pm Local Drive back to Anchorage. Return Not later than about
5:00 pm.
Please bear in mind that we hope to stick to this schedule as best as
we can, but local conditions will likely force at least some deviation
throughout the day, especially on Saturday. We hope that you will keep
your radios on and listen for us as we move about throughout the
contest.
Please feel free to forward this email or disseminate this information
to any radio operators you feel may be interested.
We are very excited about this year's contest and look forward to
hearing all of you on the air and seeing you in our logbook.
