Boy, you got that right Dennis…that IS a good buy. I used to run a TR4-C in my ’74 Malibu when I was a senior in high school and going to the UofA. Still a good radio.

Subject: [ADXA] Good find, bad news?
My son called me this morning. He cruises estate sales for camera equipment and one had some ham equipment. It was marked half off the tag price. There was a clean Drake TR-4C, MS-4, and AC-4 for $112.00 after the discount was applied.
whether it works or not, that’s a good deal. The TR-4C is one of a few rigs I’ve been looking for.
It’s possible they could have gotten more by selling online, but that is a lot of trouble with scammers, the high cost of packing and shipping, etc. There was also a Kenwood TS-940S that went for $125.00.
I don’t even know exactly what my point is, but it seems like there is quality used gear that we used to drool over everywhere at very low prices. I’m afraid it’s a sign of the age and health of a lot of us. I’m tempted by items at the
time I need to be thinning the herd.
I guess the point is really this….get your checkups, get your exercise, eat better, and take care of yourself. I plan to live another 20 years and I don’t want to be left losing my friends and seeing all that good equipment that I don’t
need going for super low prices. Time comes for all of us - but maybe I’ll be able to get someone’s TR-4C back on the air.

Dennis
