Import taxes/tariffs, a very frustrating additional charge when you or your business  deals with todays imports which accounts for an overwhelming amount of our goods.
Debbie and I delt with the first round of the seemingly overnight abitury imposition of tariffs on goods, do not mistake this for anything political, it isnt! Its the business reality of the implementation of the dutys when no one has a clue of the absolute framework of paying the money. For 3 years we only knew within 20% of what the wholesale price of what the imports would cost the business  then a follow up invoice 30 days later of the rest of the specific charge. Then because it was basically an overnight thought "the tariffs" it scared the bejus out of the importers who decided they would not be caught with a well stocked warehouse full of imported goods if the tariff went away overnight they bareshelfed the inventory which meant a few months ago I could with confidence order  a special order with faith the supplier had it in stock...well that went away taking order lead times to 12 months or so, to stay in business we were forced to triple our inventory as well as consumables .....
This reality is one of the top reasons Debbie and I sold the business, it simply became a full time job to source inventory and consumables...So whether you want to believe it or not this is one reason products have jumped in price so much in the past few years, to protect the business you need to "guess, estimate" in the high range of the final cost of product, then there is a significant amount of more time involved in sourcing the product!
AT a minimum once a week Debbie and I look at each other and say outloud Im sure glad we sold the business!!!!!!
Yes Randy todays tariff's are still a very bitter place in my mouth!

After ordering parts from Greece for Bertha, I received an invoice online to pay import tax on the parts I received. I thought this was a scam since I have purchased parts from them not long ago and had no additional taxes.

Today I actually received an invoice from FedEX with an explanation. The invoice shows an import code of HTS 9903.03.01 Here is what AI shows on this.

HTS 9903.03.01 denotes a 10% ad valorem temporary import duty imposed on all products from any country under Section 122 of the Trade Act of 1974. This surcharge is strictly enforced from 12:01 a.m. EST on February 24, 2026, through 12:01 a.m. EDT on July 24, 2026

Apparently  government or FedEX math is not the same math I learned in highschool. Their 10% equals right at 20% when all the little stuff gets tacked on.

I write this to let you know that if you are ordering internationally, wait until after July 24 if at all possible.
