I knew that little kid had potential when I first met him. I had no idea!I remember an ADXA meeting at Rick’s house years ago and anytime someone brought up a DX call, Rick knew when he was active and which bands and modes.Congratulations, Rick, on being at the very top. ADXA definitely has world class representatives. The other accomplishments have been coming so fast I can’t keep up with them, but I read every one of them. Congratulations to all! You are also representing ADXA and ham radio in fine fashion.About all I have done is make a puny effort in the Arkansas QSO Party (355 Q’s in 5 hours). Arkansas stations were hard to hear, but I did log KM5G. Maybe a rover effort next year if it’s not too hot, and I’m not too lazy!73,Dennis/RZ______________________________________________________________On Fri, May 15, 2026 at 11:26 PM Pat Patterson, W5VY via ADXA <adxa@mailman.qth.net> wrote:______________________________________________________________Greetings from HamVention,
The SouthWest Ohio DX Association hosts a “DX Dinner” each year at Hamventon. As part of the program a DX “Stand down” is conducted. All DXCC holders are asked to stand. Then, progressively higher numbers of all time DXCC totals are called out…..300, Honor Roll, 340, .…. Those not at or above the threshold sit down. At the end, the DXer with the highest all time DXCC count is left standing. Tonight, in a room full of the top DXers, that person was our very own Rick, K5UR, at 371.
It was a cool moment and a reflection of Rick’s commitment in time, development of operator skills, and station building to be able to snag just about every bit of DX that has been on the air for the last 50+ years.
