Congratulations to Dennis and Charles for getting to 300! We see a lot of talk about getting to Honor Roll status but I remember when making it to 300 seemed to be the primary goal.
I have always considered 300 to be a major milestone in DXing. It took me a long time to get there. There has been some discussion about relaxing the requirement for Honor Roll status and I agree with most that it is a lifetime achievement that should not be changed. However….
Should we have some kind of formal recognition for the 300 mark? To give a sticker for those reaching 300 would recognize a major achievement without diluting the status of Honor Roll members. I don’t know what it should be called, but it should be reflective of the “big gun” accomplishment.
Maybe 300 is just another number on the way to the top, but for many of us, it was a decades-long goal. It made me proud to see two of my friends hit that level. It means something.
Is there any merit to this, and could it take some of the sting out of the long wait to have access to those entities needed for Honor Roll status?
By the way, the old BIC chair that was held together with U-bolts and duct tape is gone. My son brought me a Steelcase chair that is very comfortable. I haven’t measured it for db gain but it seems to be working. I may have to fine tune it by putting a small piece of duct tape somewhere, though.
I’ve had an eventful 12 or so months but I’m working on my “new normal”. I’ve been camping, have done a POTA activation, and added a couple of new band counters.
