I just happen to be upstairs when they were on 40 SSB and I agree it was a show. I was watching the map on livestream to see who was being logged and it was mainly NE stations. I was hearing nothing but noise and idiots so I used the time to play with all the new noise features of the Flex 8600 and see if I could dig him out. No Luck. Then about 5 minutes later I finally heard him faintly. After listening and verifying it was him by the calls he was saying and the livestream showing the same calls being logged I called one time and he came back to me but someone tuned up right at the “Mike” part. So I repeated my call and 59 and crossed my fingers and was rewarded with my call in the log. He stayed at a faint copy for about 5 more minutes and was gone. The show went on for another 30 minutes with Tune-ups and people not calling up and everyone saying he was up and name calling etc etc. I don’t consider my station to be big but if you stay patient and can stomach the s-show then you never know when he may pop up out of the chaos.

Now if my discontinued SteppIR antenna will just hold up thru Bouvet I’ll be happy.

Welcome to the world of cyber-crime.  If one man can invent it, another man can defeat it.  This stuff goes on all the time in the business world.  I agree with David.  If someone can be legitimately caught, without question, make an example out of them.  After reading this, I'm glad I had KP5 on all bands.  I only needed them on digital.  Now I'm wondering if THAT was legitimate.

Looks like we have another PSC agenda item.

We need to make an example out of a couple of these guys.

6m propagation goes sometimes in one direction only and this same
approach can be used :-(

Indeed, this has to stop! I think DX peditions should consider the
following ASAP:

1) Modify the mshv software:
- If R-xx is received from a station that mshv responded to earlier
within e.g. 3 minutes then send back R and log QSO.
- If R-xx is received from a station that mshv responded to earlier
longer than 3 minutes ago, do not log the QSO & reset QSO state.
- If R-xx message is received at any point from a station that mshv did
not respond to within 15 minutes, blacklist the station for 48 hours &
possibly publish the offender information.

2) FT8 QSOs should not use livestream at all or at minimum implement 15
min delay in publishing the data.

3) Do not publish radio control data (like KP5 does). This blind calling
business seemed to start immediately when they saw that the radio is on
a given band.
