In looking at the on-island station data most of the morning, it looks like there may be a battery/power issue...Battery 1 is only at 19% and battery 2 is offline (or dead)...The solar panel is showing no voltage...The radio case data was online earlier but it's not showing any info now...This may explain why they are not operating this morning...

Or I may be totally off base, and all is good...

Regardless, it's kinda cool to see the data...Scroll down on home page...

I was speaking with Ken, KP4AA, this morning. He is one of the main CW op at KP5. He had a very nice big pileup on 80 meters last night.

He told me he “will be on 160M CW 15Jan25 0000-0300 KP5”. Note this is a short window but a good time for us, and of course Europe and everyone else in the US. Note this is UTC so that is Wednesday night local time 6 to 6:30 PM.

Ken noted how fast folks can move to where he is wrking a station these days with panadapters on just about every radio. He said he can go “10 up” and wrk a stn in the clear then as soon as he completes there are 100 stns calling!!

Here’s another way the DX op maximizes QSO, and other ops who are the DX use this technique as does Ken. He sets the CW filter bandwidth wide open, to 4 KHz if possible. That way you can hear many callers within that bandwidth and work them quickly before having to QSY to another lsning freq. Obviously that won’t work during a contest, but for a DXpedition on CW it is effective.

So get ready if you need KP5 on 160 meters. I don’t, but remember I have a pileup addiction so I plan to “GET IN THERE”! Don’t like me jumping in if I don’t need it, possibly disrupting your opportunity? Just remember, “You can’t run with the BIG DOGS if you pee like a puppy!”
