I would not depend on Natural Gas there are too many things that can kill it.
You will not use it for long periods of time very often and extra cost of LP gas is minimal compared to the reliability and extra output.
I have 3 20 gal LP gas tanks one is for the house and 2 are for the generator. I can run on any of the 3 for any purpose.
I have been told that I can run 2 weeks on 1 tank at full output if needed.
The longest we have run is about 36 hours in the last several years.

Great job.  I agree with Pat on the genset.  Especially if you have natural gas.  I have a Cummins 22.5 KW.  Very quiet. Will also run on propane but that is expensive for longer periods of time.  Then there is diesel, even more expensive for the genset.

Very nice results Jussi…35 zones on 15M is very cool.  Sorry you lost time with the power outage.  Ask Santa (not your YL) for a Genset.

With your high gain antennas and 1500W you were probably incredibly loud in some places.  CW is narrow by default…keying at 35wpm creates a small bandwidth of about 35hz on each side of the carrier.  Hard on/off keying can create key-clicks that can be 1-10KHz wide.  I imagine your K4 has CW rise time limit options that prevent it from doing that.  Most likely the culprit is just sheer overload of the RX front end.   I ran most of the contest with my Flex 8600 with 250Hz filter and occasionally saw big signals that would appear to be 500Hz wide or so….they were S9+30 or more (ZF5T on 15M!).  If you have a big signal you can expect to be harassed!

I was All band, HP assisted and made 551 Qs, 93 zones, 278 countries and 562K points.  Watched the Razorbacks lose at Football and Basketball and visited with friends who came over.  Six hours sleep both nights.  My SteppIR DB18E only works on 20-10M right now.  Some of the sweeps are clogged with something…copper tape elements won’t extend fully.  I put up a 40M inverted Vee about 10ft below the SteppIR and had some fun….112Qs, 16 zones, 61 cntys.

Biggest, most chaotic, simplex pileup that I saw  was on JW7QIA in Zone 40 on 20M.  Pile looked like a big quivering blob on the panadapter!

Hi,

Contest done! Not everything went according to the plan: 5 hour power outage hit us Sunday morning and I missed good EU opening & dealing with the "signal police" who kept harassing me :-(

Anyway, 1344 qsos, 122 countries, and 35 zones. This was 15m single band (unassisted).
