Maybe. FT stands for “Frank-Taylor” the two guys who created FT. RTTY is more like “T1” for the Teletype Corp Model 15. If you were fortunate enough to have a Model 15 and its companion tape reperforator machine you were definitely “cooking with grease” !! You could crank out a long QSO with all your personal details while lounged back in your chair…….not quite as easy as FT8 because you actually had to be at the desk and in control !  😊
