I have a VHQ HexBeam and loved it when it was my main antenna (pre SteppIR). Very robust and very easy to assemble. It still sits on top of my Rohn 25 and fits in the top of my Yaesu rotator. With a decent tuner you can even do a little low power 30m…or at least I could.

Bob and Lanny,

I was not familiar with the VHQ hexbeams, but with the construction and their guarantee, it seems much more robust than others.   I’ll definitely tell my friend to check them out.

Thanks, 73,

I can't say enough about the performance and construction of the VHQ Hex Beams. I have a friend in Maine who also has a HEX beam by another manufacturer and has had mechanical failures from high winds. My antenna sits right off the Atlantic Ocean and has never had any mechanical issues. The extra cost is well worth the money in value you will get. Hope this helps. 73's, Bob W3CFE

Back in the shack.  Mine is a 20-6M Radiowavz Sentinel but K1NH in Peterborough, NH makes the very best and stands behind it forever.

Charles, Scott and I are very happy with hexbeams.  A Yaesu G-450A.

Subject: [ADXA] Eantennas opinion

I’m talking to a friend who needs to replace a small tribander.  He needs low wind loading and weight.   He is also not loaded down with money.  EAntennas makes a couple of tribanders that fit and are under $1000.   I don’t know of anyone using EAntennas products, and the price worries me.  It seems unrealistically low.

Any opinions on EAntennas?   if he goes with a new antenna,   one  alternative is an Optibeam of similar design which is about $300 more.    If it was me, I’d probably get a JK Navassa 5 but that’s yet another $400 or so.

Could an Eantennas Mini-3B for $959 be a decent option for a 2 element tribander that would hold together in the winds we have ben seeing?
