Same here, George. He was weak here and only copying his streams intermittently, most of the greyline period. As his sunrise approached, started building and a few minutes after his sunrise, he was strong and steady at -5 with two streams, +0 with one stream. Was hopeful but not confident, hihi.
All of a sudden I see my turn! Great to get the ATNO on these low wires here. Glad many others got in on that awesome 40m sunrise peak on what is likely the last overnight on the air.

Well the Russellville Mafia also worked him on 40m during the gray line event for him after OUR midnight hour. I was seeing just an occasional stripe, then it became almost every cycle - 2 compound streams (4 calls). First it was John (BHS), of course, then I got my shot a few minutes later and Charles (K5CS) followed. Then our DX buddy Lanny (K1LEC), from Joel's neck of the woods (Searcy), got him.
For us that was at least the 2nd contact. We are all in his online ClubLog logbook, so when he gets home and sets up OQRS on Clublog, we can order cards and LoTW. Or just wait for 6 months for his free LoTW upload. I tend to donate to the DXP (especially ATNO's like this) to get the nice cards and upload them before something happens to his log (or him) and I lose it all together.
Also Saturday morning, I got another new Grid Square on my FFMA quest. After he uploads when he gets home, it'll only need 16 more for the magic number of 488. Yesterday, we tried FT8, Q65, MSK144 and back to FT8 which turned out to be the successful mode for our distance and conditions. The 6m band is just starting to come alive, hopefully better than last year, which was a real bummer. 2 years ago, I knocked out about 50 new GS in just a few months.

Something KI5QQG pointed out to me, she became aware of this while we were following each other working a station, note the tx freq, as soon as the lead gets a 73 the following station starts tx in the open hole…. So watch a bit to see someone kinda close gets their 73, note their freq. and follow in that hole, they were heard, now gone, elbow in, it helps! This PM KI5QOS tried about 30 tries to get a 73, KI5QQH followed and only took abt 15 in the same hole!!!______________________________________________________________Hope this helps, providing band conditions don’t change!?KF5TL
