I have only worked him on 30 FT8.  The problem I'm having over here is all the stations who are calling on the wrong sequence.  It is terrible.  Lots of DQRM too.  When all the US stations are calling on his freq, I cannot hear him.  I got a report last night on 40 but a US station started right up and I could never copy his reply.  I send emails to everyone I hear doing it.  You would not believe some of the responses I get.  Most have no clue how to FT8 and other say they can't copy him so they are calling blind.  A real xxxx-show.

I'm listening to a station jam him on30 meters with a string of dots every time he transmits.  I wonder what happened to the ARRL initiative that was going to track down some of these idiots?

I was awakened this morning at 4:30 with a spot that ZS8W was on 14.084 FT8.  I lay in bed thinking maybe I would just skip it because I haven't heard him consistently since he started.  But I decided if I was going to work him at all I'd better get up and check it out.  In the wee hours of the morning even 20 meters was less than optimum...I heard only two US stations calling him and no one else.  He was nowhere to be found on long path.  Then I saw a spot that indicated I should check short path.  Still nothing, but since I was out of bed I might as well listen for a while.  To be ready to pounce, I checked my SWR and it was high so tuning the antenna was in order.  Once the antenna was tuned I let out a couple of calls.  To my surprise, ZS8W replied with a  -02 signal report!  I looked at the waterfall as the transmitter sent a -21 and there was barely a sparkle.  I got the RR73 and I was in the log.  ATNO!  Maybe.  I don't know if I worked the real ZS8W or a pirate.  Now I'm waiting for his next log upload.  Looking forward to more contacts and bands though.  Never heard him again...

I started calling them at 8pm and called them almost continuously until 11pm except for a few breaks to let the amp cool. I saw them work several ADXA members with a couple of near misses. I did also see Debbie work them first, then Charles work them a short time after she did.

I spent my time looking up several stations they were working and a found on all that had their equipment listed that everything west of the east coast states had listed legal limit amps and large antennas. There were a few east coast stations that had listed only 500 watt amps and wire antennas or verticals.

During the time I let the amp cool, I would always decode 52or 53 stations calling. I know this doesn't include the stations I couldn't hear.

My setup with 500 watts and a loop antenna at 50 feet and the inverted L was clearly inadequate. What I did notice, as I checked where I was being heard, was the inv L was better early in the evening with some good signals into VK long path. As the evening went by, the loop became the better antenna to the stations that were hearing me.

At this point, I have more hours invested in calling ZS8W than another other station I have attempted to work. My plan at this point is to think about all the errors of my ways as a child, the misfortune of not investing in Walmart stock in the 1970's and pray for a world power outage except to my QTH   and ZS8W.

Congratulations to all the were able to work him. I was very happy to see several of you conquer the brutal pileup.

Have a great day and good DXing!

Deb and I just nabbed him on 7.070....I saw K5UR work um a bit ago on 40 as well as K9CT , they gave Craig a +25 signal report, eeks! Was playing with antennas, both my 40's are 3 elements, the Trapped Mosley is at 90 ft, the coil loaded JK is at 122 ft, the JK is  on a 40 ft boom per the Mosley 26 ft I think...more or less. Seeing um @ a 0 to +2 on the JK,  -12 on the Mosley.  I couldnt have worked then on the Mosley, the traps melt @ above 600 watts We were legal on power out.......

ZS8W isn't decoding here but I've seen several ADXA members calling.  K5UR just snagged him!
