Joel reminded us that the Novice Rig Roundup was going on so I gave it a try.  The Drake 2-C receiver I got at the hamfest is working great.  I can also switch to a Drake. 2-B or Collins 75S-1 receiver, although it might be strange to call a Collins a “Novice rig”.   The Drake 2-NT transmitter puts out about 30 watts, crystal controlled.<div dir="auto"><br></div><div dir="auto">At 2242, I called AC5AM on 7.110 and had a nice QSO.  Then I was called by K5MU, KA9ERV, and N5GW.   That’s a big contest run rate of about 8 per hour.  Not bad, though, with full name, QTH, right type, etc exchanges, and everyone using a straight key.</div><div dir="auto"><br></div><div dir="auto">I wanted to work at least a couple, and exceeded that, so maybe I’ll get a couple more tomorrow.  </div><div dir="auto"><br></div><div dir="auto">Here’s a picture of the Novice corner.  (yes, I do have a toy airplane).    Dennis/RZ<div><img src="cid:1958cb330fff9dead491" style="max-width: 100%;"></div></div><div dir="auto"><div dir="auto"><br></div><br></div>
