ADXA Folks,

So, we wait on “hot stby” to find out what will happen on Mt. Athos, ADXA’s #11 most needed. The folks on Mt. Athos are not shyster’s, but well respected radio amateurs, especially Adrian who we have all met at our ADXA conference in 2023. I’m sure they did not begin this effort without being confident they had the correct and full authority to operate.

The religious leaders at the monastery are very strict in their control. This is not the first time an operation has been stalled. I recall Baldur, DJ6SI, (who did have some “questionable” DXpeditions) attempted an op from Mt. Athos under the European CEPT agreement and he was shut down and shot out of the saddle by the religious leaders because he did not have permission from them. Plus I don’t believe he was actually on top of Mt. Athos at the monastery!! Bill, K5FUV, our resident DXCC “go to guy” may have some follow up. I’m sure Bernie, W3UR, will have full details as soon as he has valid, confirmed information to pass on. Bernie is very good to wait until he has facts and does not pass on hearsay.

So, for the moment we QRX and see what happens. This may just be a simple matter of providing further clarification of the intent to the religious leaders and Martti and company can fire back up. Hopefully we will have some clarification today.
