As an avid football fan I was too wrapped up in games the past two days to participate in SKN or the ADXAthon. I did get a chuckle out of Nick’s comment about the VF-1. I have a VF-1 I use with my DX-40 xmtr. I performed some mods and use a homebrew external power supply  to stabilize it, but in its original form it does drift.

It reminds me of an OO card I received in 2001 while running one of my Novice stations and using the WN5IGF callsign. The OO advised me I had frequency instability, chirp, and key clicks. I humorously replied and thanked him for confirming my transmitter was performing up to the design specifications as shipped from the factory!! Unfortunately he did see the humor in that!

I've been using the EICO 720, Heath VF-1, and SX-111. People tell me my VF-1 drifts. Well, duh!

I’ve been hammering off and on. It is a brutal contest. I’m pretty sure when I called RZ, he intentionally didn’t answer to keep me from getting the US. Randy/ W5ZJ

That’s interesting that I’m on the list for 6 Q’s because I’ve been in football mode last night and today and have NOT made any QSO’s in 2025 !!!!

That is great, Dennis.  You should have said you had 90 countries last night.  Everyone would have quit.   What we need is a live scoreboard so everyone can see where everyone is and create some excitement.

You probably know who is trying from a pileup or two.  Wonder how many are giving it a big effort?

By the way, I am going to get on some and call CQ for anyone who needs ZF.  I worked maybe three of the ADXA people.  I am not going to enter.  I would feel bad if I won and even worse if I lost.
