I "think" I may have got him.  He was really strong UNTIL I called him, of course.  

He was working simplex and I did hear the JJJ, but it might have been Bill (WB6JJJ) he was working, but I plowed through anyway.  

I'm pretty sure I did hear him give my call back for the 73.  It's one of those WFWL types since he doesn't do LoTW, but does do QRZ.  So far he's not posted any 17m QSO's on QRZ yet, since he does his radio work from the beach.  

Fingers crossed.  It will be my 2nd Wake Island contact, if it really happened.  The first was in 2013, also on SSB and it was confirmed long ago.
