YES!!! I had a FULL committee working on this one and simply lowering the output of the transceiver solved it…yes, there is a great ALC in the SPE line of linears, but taking
100 watts or so and dropping it to 10 watts to drive the linear left a significant amount of RF floating about…would kick off the FT8 program every time…..thanks Jay, Jim, Chuck, Dennis, etc., etc.
😊
Have fun in CQ WW SSB – spoke with K5GO, Stan, who is “on island” at Cayman Brac ready to partner up with his son, Kevin, N5DX to go multi, single, HP, I am guessing.
Good luck gents! ZF5T - C U on the bands!

BTW Dennis,
I saw K5YCM calling CQ ADXA on 6m. What a hoot to see that after my comments on Work ALL ADXA 6m and so I added Keith into my log. Keith is now down near the Texas/OK border. So, I don't know who is ahead of
the Worked All ADXA on 6m, but when I see an ADXA member on the air, I always try to work them and get them in the log. Just an OCD thing to do. Plus, it is fun to work other ADXA members to keep things tweak up.
Losing Codecs can be RFI related. We fought this for months on W5SJ's setup and RFI is what ended up being problem! But with a not so funny twist. The RFI is coming from the rig alone, not the amplifier! What
we learn to do in the meantime was to drive the amp and no RFI problems losing Codecs and rig control!! Now if Bill used just the rig at full barefoot power, it will lose communication with the rig and its codec every time. I am sure now the RFI was coming
from the rig and into his USB cable going to the computer. By lowering the power while driving the amp, the RFI didn't exist to upset the applecart. As we move up in wavelengths it takes very little wire to act like an antenna, even with a barefoot radio.
To trace down the problem it took a crew of Fort Smith's finest while I was logged in with AnyDesk. Never seen that one before and I don't think any of the FS boys have either? Usually, RFI gets worse as you
go higher in power. Well, I guess in a way it did, but only using the rig and bumping it up from 30 watts to around 80 watts that when we would lose the Codec and rig control every single time. Just when you think you seen it all, then you get thrown for
a loop. I am learning to hate computers, but they are fact of life in ham radio. Not with just RTTY and FT8, but I couldn't or would not want to go back to paper logs!
Not saying that is your problem, but something to look at and consider. Put your rig into a dummy load and if you never lose the codec, you can be fairly sure it is RFI related. Seems 6m has more problems that
some bands. I know K5VR makes his refrigerator go bonkers when he is on 6m. Wait I think I saw it running down my road a few ago, hi.

While we are all watching 6 meters, I have noticed how many ADXA'ers are on the band. Just for example, I have copied ZM, ZN, LEC, JAY, KJ and others. I saw a CQ from Jussi and decided to answer. I have a recurring problem where WSJT-X
drops the audio CODEC and has to be restarted. It's a nuisance but easily corrected. When the program came back up, it was set to CQ and after one transmission, I was answered by W5JAY!
I just saw a message from Jay pop up - looks like he is ahead of me in the quest to "work all ADXA on 6" :)
