Well, my experience with pinning is a failing mast pipe. It started developing a fracture that slowly progressed and the pipe finally snapped, bringing down the antenna!

My current gear is pretty lightweight, so if the alignment gets out of whack, I will just fix it (rotate). No more pinning for me but all that depends how easily it can be fixed...
