A local friend needs a new rotator.  He is looking at a Yaesu G-800.  He recently almost lost everything in 80 MPH winds and we had two similar storms within a week.  He wants to make sure he gets something with a good brake.   The Yaesu rotators say the braking system is “mechanical and electrical stopper”.   No one seems to know what that means.  I guess it is somewhere between the steel wedge in the Ham-X rotators and relying on the motor gears to resist windmilling like some of the low end rotators seem to do.   <div dir="auto"><br></div><div dir="auto">Anyone have any words of wisdom I can pass along to him?   The antenna is a small tribander, so he will probably be OK. </div><div dir="auto"><br></div><div dir="auto">73,</div><div dir="auto">Dennis/RZ</div>
