The only thing that might get me that excited would be if I  broke through on 80 CW on one of the early days.  That’s why the rule is “pee first, then go to the rig”.

One year at Field Day, I was pulling the midnight to wee hours shift.  I was on 40M CW, sitting on a frequency and running a decent rate for FD.   The graveyard shift requires a lot of coffee and I’m no slacker when it comes to coffee.  My Thermos was about empty, and I needed to pee.  There was a tree near the tent and everyone else was asleep, but I was not going to give up my run frequency.  It was a close thing, but eventually two CQ’s in a row got no reply and I made a quick relief trip.  I’m not sure what happened after that, but I probably squeezed in somewhere on the band and started running again until my FD CW station partner WA5BDU showed up to take over.

During your “biological alert” if you find they are on 80 meters “SUPER Fox” just PLEASE BE CAREFUL and don’t pee on your red cape during all the excitement.

That’s all I have to say about that …………………………..

Being an OM has certain advantages for low band DX chasing.  It’s sort of a “biological alert system”.   During my first alert, I got them on 40 CW, and then some time later before dawn, made contact on 30M FT8.

I think this system will help me work them on 80!

Went to bed with just EU's working CY9C on 10.131.  Got up to pee and worked them very quickly at 0931Z with a +02 amidst mostly JA's!  Got lucky!
