Greetings ADXA Folks,
Back in 1958, Eddie Cochran lamented about the “Summertime Blues” in a song he co-wrote with his manager Jerry Capehart. While the song had absolutely nothing to do with amateur radio the title does suggest a parallel to DX’ing.
A few of you have ask me why there hasn’t been much traffic on our reflector the past couple of months. The answer is quite simple; Summer presents way too many opportunities for other activities even when the bands are open and DX is flourishing. For me and Kim, June and July were very busy months that took me away from daily DX’ing and I’m sure the same is true for many of you. August is a bit more relaxed and I’m sitting here this morning listening to Adrian, KO8SCA, on Jarvis working stations on 20 meter phone while enjoying my coffee. I still can’t get in full DX mode but that will change as fall rolls around, the low bands begin to open and more DXpeditions fire up.
So for those of you who wonder why the reflector traffic has slowed the past couple of months, rest assured nothing is wrong! It is a normal occurrence every year and there simply “Ain’t no cure for the summertime blues” even in DX’ing !!!!!
