It's taken me awhile to get my DX'ing mojo back, but I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. I just had my last of 24 physical therapy sessions, and I can attest to the fact that pain is necessary for gain. There are still some things I can't do, like driving long distances, mowing the yard (doctor said no), etc. However, I did do some maintenance on a non-working rotator. Unfortunately, the problem seems to be in the cable, part of which is buried, so that will require a little more checking. I hope the numerous squirrels in the area haven't developed a taste for cables.
My goal for 2024 was to make it to 1600 Challenge points. I planned to be at 1550 by Field Day and 1600 by year's end. Then add another 100 in 2025 and concentrate on the low bands after that when sunspots are declining.
Since CB0ZEW and a couple of others came through, I am now at 1554, so I'm happy. A good DXpedition and contest season should get me there. Jarvis has already added 12 and 17 meters.
I also worked them on 10 CW and SSB but didn't need it there.
One other thing I did was hook my SW 80M vertical back up. I had to re-route the coax to allow for mowing. I should be able to work N5J on 80, as well as 40 and 30.
I've helped with a tower and yagi antenna project for a local friend, but that mainly involved assembling the Hy-Gain TH-3JRS at my house and bringing the pieces to re-assemble. Much of the the rest of my "help" was done from a lawn chair! It all feels like progress, though.
