I used a Ham IV for years. A few years ago, in a tornado the brake finger broke off. I lifted my mess up a little and put in a T2X. (it's a little taller).
Many storms later it is still pointing toward Europe. The brake works fine. I think it is indestructible.
HOWEVER, I know some guys who like the Yaesu rotators better. I happen to have a friend who is a CBer. He HATES the T2X, and loves the Yaesu 1000. (Some guys drive Fords, Some guys drive Toyota).
Even so, There are several guys who advertise that they rebuild the HyGain Tailtwister Rotors. Evidently aftermarket parts are available.
That's my opinion, and I'm sticking to it.
