Yes, good memory…Rick has one, TOO.  More often than not when I see Rick, he reminds me of a circa 1980 QSO he heard me have late one evening on 40 CW with Reunion Island using my Viking Ranger (barefoot – 65 W).  Let’s just say he noted that my “note was less than “9” as in - - 9 😊

I saw KC4USV at McMurdo Station, Antarctica, on 20 FT8 last night.  It brought back a lot of memories.   We used to hear USV often on 20 SSB in the early evening with a booming signal.

One of our locals, Dave, KG5GH, worked at McMurdo  several times.  One night about 2 AM, my phone rang.  It was a ham in Louisiana and he said Dave was on at KC4USV and wanted me to know.   I fired up on 20M and had a nice conversation with Dave.  He said I was about S9.  After a few minutes, we paused and heard “Kilowatt 5 Uniform Radio”.   Rick joined the conversation.  I was proud of my S9 report until Dave told Rick he was S9 + 20!
